Our aim for our Modern Chalet home was to bring a chalet feel into a modern subdivision home without creating an inorganically rustic atmosphere within the space.

Sharp geometric elements contrast rustic pieces to create a perfect transition between provincial and contemporary – this can be seen in the entryway mural, the ceiling beams of the living room, the tiling work in the restroom, and the art and rug accent pieces in the dining area. While the majority of art and lighting pieces tilt to the modern end of the spectrum, the content of the art features rustic elements such as canoes and wild game to bring about that chalet feeling. Plenty of rustic textiles wove themselves into the modern rooms to create the feel of a retreat – rich distressed leather couches, fur pillows, wicker baskets, and fuzzy throws all served to enhance the perception of a chalet in this modern subdivision home.
